Early in the new year we will celebrate the next edition of the Stormwater SA Excellence Awards.

The Stormwater SA 2024 Awards for Excellence encourages and celebrates excellence in the innovation, development, completion and management of stormwater projects and the people involved. The various award categories are listed below. 

With the awards to be held early next year, it's not only time to start thinking about submitting nominations for the awards, but we also encourage you to consider sponsoring either the event or one of the award categories. A sponsorship prospectus is attached with details of the sponsorship levels available and the opportunities this will afford your company.

Event Award Categories:

• Category 1 - Excellence in Strategic and Master Planning
  This award recognises excellence in strategic or master planning in the development of integrated stormwater management. For example, projects within this category may include site or precinct master plans.
• Category 2 - Excellence in Infrastructure
  This award recognises excellence in stormwater infrastructure projects that have been delivered and are now operational. By way of example, projects within this category may include a stormwater management system for a development incorporating treatment measures such as constructed wetlands or bioretention systems.
• Category 3 – Excellence in Asset Management
  This award recognises excellence in the management of stormwater infrastructure in order to encourage and promote improved asset management planning and practices. By way of example, projects within this category may include programs and plans that set out approaches and strategies to manage stormwater assets.
• Category 4 – Excellence in Research and Innovation
  This award recognises excellence in research and innovation that facilitate or accelerate the uptake of stormwater management principles and practices that lead to the sustainable use and management of stormwater. Projects that would be eligible for consideration in this category include new technologies used in stormwater management planning, design construction or maintenance.
• Category 5 – Excellence in Policy or Education
  This award recognises excellence in policy/regulation and educational programs/activities that facilitate or accelerate the uptake of stormwater management principles and practices that lead to the sustainable use and management of stormwater. By way of example, projects within this category include capacity building projects or community focused education programs.
• Category 6 – Excellence in Integrated Stormwater Design
  This award recognises excellence in integration of stormwater into the urban environment. It is intended to promote the use of integrated design principles and to acknowledge design-led stormwater projects. By way of example, projects within this category may include stormwater treatment/flood mitigation within public spaces or restoration projects, improving aquatic ecosystems and creating liveable spaces.
• Category 7 – Young Stormwater Professional of the Year
  This award recognises the outstanding achievements of a stormwater practitioner with less than 5 years'  experience (post-graduate or post-employment in the field). This award will acknowledge and reward young stormwater practitioners who have technical and professional stormwater management competence, demonstrated leadership skills including leadership of teams, demonstrated positive/notable outcomes from their stormwater work, demonstrated creativity/innovation and demonstrated service to the industry, the profession and/or society. 

The awards will be held in early 2024. Further information will be released in the coming months.

Expressions of interest for “Event Sponsor” will be taken on a ‘first come, first served’ basis and will be subject to the approval of the SSA Chair. 

Should you wish to sponsor an award category, please indicate your first and second preference. In the case of multiple interested sponsors for a single category we may contact you to discuss your willingness to sponsor an alternative.
